As PC processor speeds
have increased to beyond 200 MHz, we have found that many programs do
not run properly at these high speeds.
For these programs, there is a program available that slows down
PC processors so that they will run properly.
The program is called MoSlo, and is available from the web.
To install MoSlo for use with Logshell, follow these
instructions:
1.
Download the self-extracting executable file.
It is available on the web from http://www.hpaa.com/moslo/moslotry.asp.
2.
Extract the files into the directory that Logshell was installed
in (C:\LS by default).
3.
Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the directory Logshell is
installed in (C:\LS by default).
4.
Locate the Logshell.pif icon.
This is the Logshell Icon with the short cut arrow in the bottom
left side of the icon. The
file type is “”Shortcut to MS-DOS program”.
Right click on the Logshell.pif icon and then select
“Properties”.
5.
Click the “Program” tab and edit the “Cmd line”.
Add “MoSlo /25” to the front of the command line.
For example, the command line could be: “MoSlo.com
/25 C:\LS\LOGSHELL.EXE”.
6.
The /25 parameter in the command line is the percent of full
speed to operate the PC. For
very fast computers, you may need to slow the computer to less than 25%
of full speed. You may want to try different speeds.
To do this simply change the /25 parameter in the command line to
another percentage.
Example: “Moslo.com /50 C:\LS\LOGSHELL.EXE.”
7.
Press the “Apply” button and then the “OK” button.
8.
Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the directory the Start menu
program shortcuts are located in (C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs by
default).
9.
Locate the Logshell.pif icon.
This is the Logshell Icon with the short cut arrow in the bottom
left side of the icon. Repeat
steps 4 through 7.
10.
If you have a shortcut to Logshell on your desktop, then select
this icon and again repeat steps 4 through 7.
11.
Run Logshell as usual.
If problems occur when running with moslo.com, it
may be necessary to run Logshell in the DOS only mode. To do this and still preserve the “MOSLO” settings, go
back to the LOGSHELL PIF (or desktop shortcut), right click, and select
Properties. Then select
Program, and then ADVANCED. Check
the box that says MS-DOS mode. Then press enter and select
“Apply” to activate this mode.
This allows the PC to restart with the MOSLO settings and run in
DOS mode. The user will be
warned to close all Windows programs when starting Logshell in this
manner.
You may also have to use Moslo to install the Logshell software from
diskette. First install Moslo on your computer and then use it
something like this:
