(Full Waveform Recording in Real time)

Length 160 cm (63")
Diameter 40 mm (1.6") (probe housing), centralizers required
Weight 6.2 Kg (13.6 lbs)
Pressure Rating 20,000 kPa (2940 PSI)
Operating Temperature 0 to 70°C (32 - 158°F)
Borehole Diameter 45 mm - 600 mm depending on mud conditions

1.4 MHz, 1.5 x 1.53 mm (beamwidth) user-controlled transducer head; Applied Physics 3-axis magnetometer, accelerometer package.

Measurement

Very high resolution borehole acoustic imagery in open, fluid-filledholes or through PVC pipe. The system records a full waveform with each sample

Accuracy

Magnetometer: +/- 0.5 degree inclination, +/- 1.5 degree azimuth

Resolution

< 2 mm. Fractures to 0.05 mm acoustic caliper

Operations Manual A link to the operations manual for this probe will be added soon.  Please check again.

Why Borehole Imagery?:

    * Characterize fracture and fault systems

    * Quantify thin-bed attributes

    * Interpret environments of deposition

    * Resolve lithology-body geometry and paleocurrent orientation.

    * Complement Coring operations

The ABI40 is the resulting evolution of the ALT FAC40 and is based on years of experience with the current design.  The new system consists of industry focused acoustic head with completely new deviation sub-system (APS544 sensor) and redesigned electronics.  The new architecture uses a 14-bit - 10 Msample/sec, high precision A/D converter that directly couples to a super-fast 75MOPS DSP processor capable of performing complex data processing in real time on each individual ultrasonic wavetrain.
